Hi,

I've used dotSUB in the pass to translate some videos and it worked just fine. Now, I can't play the videos, they load, the first image appears, I press the play button and nothing happens. I've recently reinstalled my Operating System, I'm using Windows XP with Firefox 3, although IE doesn't work either.

Is there maybe a special codec that has to be installed, although I'm having the same codecs as before?

Thank you for your time and answer, Mihai

I've got the same problem I can't play this video, for example http://blog.plataformavoluntariado.org/2009/04/27/dinamica-con-globos-sobre-valores-y-participacion/

    Hello Mihai,

Can you clear you cache in both webbrowsers and try again?

Let me know if you still experience this issue after clearing your cache.

    Cheers, Brooks L. dotSUB.com

    Hello Brooks,

Now it seems to work fine, without the need to clear the cache. The only time it didn't work was on 25 of April, the same day I wrote the original message.

I've explained the problem above, I can't tell you if clearing the cache would have worked or not, but I can give you some more clues: The videos would play after a restart of the system, but not after closing/restarting the browser(s), and even after this, they would only play once; after stopping the video by leaving the page or reloading it, the same problem as told initially would appear, they didn't play.

I hope this will help, as I'm seeing others have the same issue. I will let you know if the problem reappears.

    Best regards, Mihai

    Hello again,

I have this problem again, and now I know exactly when it happens. It is when I'm translating some video, and then, in the middle of the translation process, I go to the video page and try to play it. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Clearing the cache didn't help either.

    Any thoughts?

    Mihai

Can you send me a screenshot of a video that will not play? This might be the best way to diagnose this issue.

    Thanks, Brooks L.

I've added two screen-shots, one after the video has loaded, but before pressing the play button, and the second one, after the play button has been pushed. In the second case, I've waited almost a minute before the info bar down in the browser told me that the page has finished loading (see the "done" info in the bottom left of both images), but the video didn't play, it's just stuck there.

Can you reboot your computer again? Then try to play a video?

    Thanks,

    Brooks
