As I am halfway through my video, I double checked on what my subtitle would look like on the video and realized that the Thai subtitle appeared to be in blocky rectangles, absolutely unreadable.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi, if you are seeing boxes and rectangles this means that you do not have Thai font sets installed on your computer.

Can you please send me the dotSUB link to thew video so I can take a look?

    Hi Ed,

Thanks for the quick response. I find that a little odd since I was using the Thai language option when typing the translation. If I didn't have a Thai font sets installed, I should have known it immediately after starting my translation right? Not after I've done 60-some% of the talk by checking the video with the Thai subtitle option.

    The link is: http://dotsub.com/translate/45e94d82-932c-459f-96d2-afc6691a7128/tha

I can see the Thai text on the translation page fine.
Please let me know what you think. Thanks again!

Humm yes if you can translate you should see the subtitles. I just checked and I can see the Thai subtitles fine. Can you tell me what browser you are using and what version of Flash you have?

I use Firefox 3.5.7 for Mac when translating. I checked the translation work on the video page using Firefox, Chrome (4.0.302.2), and Safari (4.0.3 (5531.9)). All of them seem to have blocky, non-readable Thai subtitle on the video page.

My Flash is Mac OS X version 10.0.42.34.

    Hope this helps.

so just to confirm again, it works fine on the translation page it's when you go to view that this happens correct?

I am going to have one of our Flash guys take a look at this, it sounds like a Flash issue

Your understanding is correct. Everything works fine on the translation page but my Thai subtitle turned unreadable blocky squares on the talk itself, in the view section.

Please keep me posted. Thanks again for this.

Hi yes we are working on this. It seems to be a bug in Flash 10 and only affecting Macs. You can of course keep translating and once it gets over to the TED site the Thai should be viewable. In the meantime, I will let you know when we get this fixed.

    Thanks
