Knowledge Base: How do I caption/transcribe a video?
To transcribe a video, you must be logged in to dotSUB. Click
once on the video you are interested in transcribing, look to the
right of the player for the blue "Transcribe Translate" tab. Click
on the "Transcribe Video" tab.
This will take you to the transcription user-interface (UI).
Click in the box under the blue "Add a transcription line" to begin
transcribing. Using the keyboard commands under the video player,
hit "CTRL + SHIFT + P" to start the video. Listen for a few
seconds, hit "CTRL + SHIFT + P" to stop the video, then type what
you heard into the transcription box.
When you are sure this is the correct line, hit "CTRL + SHIFT + ↓" to set the transcription end time then hit the "enter" key. Hit "CTRL + SHIFT + ↑" to set the next lines start point, then hit "CTRL + SHIFT + P", listen for a few seconds, "CTRL + SHIFT + P" type the next line, then " CTRL + SHIFT + ↓". You can also "CTRL + SHIFT + →" to move forward one second, or "CTRL + SHIFT + ←" to rewind. Your work is automatically saved as soon as you hit the "enter" key"
