Knowledge Base: How do I import existing subtitles created on another subtilting tool for a video?
dotSUB makes it possible to import an existing file containing a transcription or translation. Although we support various formats, we recommend importing of "SRT" files.
Some key points to remember:
-
When importing a translation, the timing must match up with the transcription; if it does not, the import will fail. This means that you can not modify the timing of a translation. The master timing from the transcription is always used.
-
Please use the export transcription as a guide when creating a translation to import. The format must be identical to avoid any problems.
The following screenshot shows you where to import an existing SRT file into the dotSUB transcription user interface.
