How to Assign Translators

Now that your video is captioned, it is ready to be translated.
This article will help you assign your own team as translators for a specific video.

To assign a user as translator, they first need to create a free Dotsub account at dotsub.com, by clicking on the "Sign Up Free" link at the top:

Once your translator has a Dotsub account, login to your project area on Dotsub.com > Menu > My Projects:

Open the video by clicking on the plus sign next to it and click the "Assign Translator" button:

At the pop-up, enter the translator's language and username, before clicking Assign:

The translator will now receive an automated system notification advising them the video is ready for translation:

Once they click on the "Translate Video" link, they will be taken to our translation interface, where they can edit any line by clicking the pencil icon that appears when hovering over it with the mouse, clicking on the green checkmark (or pressing Enter) to save any changes in real time.

Once they have finished translating the video, they can indicate their work is completed by clicking on "Mark this Translation as Complete."

Every Project Manager on your project will then receive a notification advising the translation is now complete.

Batch-Assigning Videos for Translation

Log in to your project area, and click on the "Translations" tab.

At the bottom of the screen, click on "Batch Assign Translator:"

A new page will open up, allowing you to enter the target language and Dotsub username of the translator and, in addition, allowing you to select all videos to be assigned:

Once you click "Assign," the translator will receive a single e-mail notification, containing all of the links to the assigned videos.

Automating the Process

If the same person will be translating all of the videos in a specific language, the assignment process can be fully automated, so that you do not need to assign each video and language individually.
To do this, click on the "Project Settings" tab from your project area:

Enable "Translation" under Auto Assign Settings, and then click on the plus sign at the upper right hand corner of the panel:

At the pop-up, you will be prompted to enter the language and username of your translator:

Once this setting is saved, the designated translator will be notified whenever a new video has been captioned and it's ready for translation.
They can then follow the steps described above to review and approve the translations.
