Arabic MP4 Rendering

Last Updated: Aug 26, 2016 10:07AM EDT
Dotsub can create MP4 files for any translated languages but, in some cases involving right-to-left languages, ligatures are not rendered with full accuracy and punctuation is inverted, due to a known issue of our automated burn-in solution.

This means that, when the captions are displayed on the web, the ligatures and punctuation will appear correctly. However, when the final result is burned into an MP4, the output will appear differently:

Arabic, as displayed on Dotsub

Arabic burn-in (MP4)

Many people considers this does not affect readability to a large extent, so they use these files regardless of the aforementioned display change.

As an alternative to render 100% perfect Arabic on MP4, you can generate FCP and TIFF or PNG subtitles using Dotsub's captions and third-party software.
